Margaret Seide, MS, MD is a Review Board member and writer for Verywell Mind.

Dr. Seide graduated from New York University School of Medicine in 2004 and has been working as a board-certified psychiatrist since 2007. She has a worked with a wide variety of patients, with particular training and expertise in eating disorders, major depression and addiction. Currently, she is on faculty at NYU and also oversees a busy private practice seeing patients virtually and helping them negotiate modern dating, workplace issues as well as mood and anxiety disorders.

Dr. Seide has been featured in numerous platforms as her keen expertise and wisdom as both a psychiatrist and woman of color has been much sought after in these complicated times. She has a passion and vision of educating the public and destigmatizing the topic of mental health.

Prior to lending her voice to popular publications, Dr. Seide enjoyed a thriving academic career as an associate professor and has been published in peer reviewed journals and textbooks. She has also presented at national conferences.

Education

Dr. Seide received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Stony Brook University, her master’s degree in Pharmacology and Physiology from Rutger’s University and her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. She completed her psychiatry residency at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
